Alveolar ridge expansion technique with simultaneous implant placement By DR. Omid Termechi
Featured products
The alveolar ridge split and expansion technique is used in the management of horizontally deficient (narrow) alveolar ridge with optimum bone height. The alveolar ridge is split at the crest lengthwise, thereby separating the buccal and lingual alveolar cortical plates using specialized instruments. Very convenient for mandibular posterior implant sites. This case demonstrates the expansion technique with two-implant placement in the posterior mandible of a 67-year-old female patient. The surgical protocol followed standard steps: flap reflection, osteotomy preparation, implant insertion, and radiographic verification. Clinical and radiographic outcomes indicate optimal placement, suggesting favorable prognosis for osseointegration and future prosthetic restoration.
